Chong’an Temple, also known as Xijin Park, has been a political, commercial and cultural center of Wuxi for more than 1,600 years. The adjacent Dongxu Palace dates back over 500 years; a side room of its Sanqing Hall was the home of musician A Bing, composer of Moon Reflected on the Second Spring. Established in 1905, the public garden was among China’s earliest parks to offer free public admission and features 24 named scenic spots. The district is recognized alongside Shanghai’s City God Temple, Nanjing’s Confucius Temple and Suzhou’s Xuanmiao Temple as one of Jiangnan’s four distinctive historic commercial districts. It is a national 4A tourist attraction.
